Expressive Mandala Workshops
Come and draw you’re own Mandala !!
We are all creative even when we cannot draw or paint well. Access you’re inherent creativity by creating a Mandala!!.
A Mandala is a special form of drawing using a circle as a framework. Psychologist Carl Jung noticed that these circular drawings, also called magic or sacred circles, correspond to individual’s inner feelings, thoughts and situations.
Mandalas are both therapeutic to draw and then to look at and meaning discovered. They are specifically used for insight, self expression, healing and transformation.
The drawing of a Mandala is started by the drawing of a circle which suggests a centre and can have a centering, calming effect. Mandala images emerge spontaneously as a sign of change and transformation.
The drawing is completed by drawing inside the circle, using colours and shapes onto which the drawer places their personal interpretation and meaning.
Expressive mandalas are usually not planned, but ‘allowed’ to flow out spontaneously.
In situations of stress and fear for example the visualization of a personal healing mandala can have very protective effects even helping to build new patterns of feeling and coping.
Discussion of the Mandalas is done in group context. The therapist (registered Psych Counsellor) will help to analyze the Mandalas.
